The Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association’s 2025 local calendar will commence on Saturday, January 4, 2025 with the 31st staging of the Purewater /JC/ R. Danny Williams Track & Field Development Meet on the school grounds at the Ashenheim Stadium, located at 189 Old Hope Road.
The Purewater /JC/ R. Danny Williams Meet is one of the qualifying meets for the Boys & Girls Athletics Championships which will have its 114th staging in 2025.
The Meet is also officially sanctioned by the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA), the Inter-Secondary Schools’ Sports Association (ISSA), as well as World Athletics, enabling athletes to gain world ranking points based on their performance.
Action begins at 8:30 am with athletes competing in classes one to three for boys and one to four for girls.
The event line up promises to be exceptional with 100M, 400M, 800M, 3000M(F) AND 5000M(M).
Additionally, there will be 70M, 80M, 100M, 110M, & 400M hurdles.
Joining this list of events are field events: Long Jump, Triple Jump, Discus, High Jump, Shot Put, Javelin, Pole Vault.
A maximum of four (4) competitors per class per team per event will be allowed except in the 400m where each team will be allowed a maximum total of three (3) competitors.
The second category will comprise of a mix of clubs and institutions with males and females in separate competition.
The honouree at this year’s edition of the meet will be Mr. Wayne Palmer, a former national footballer and Jamaica College assistant coach from 2006-2007.
Palmer has been the coach of JC’s Under-14 since 2008, winning 16 titles.
