Grenades maintain narrow lead in ABFA Premier League after 2-0 win over Bullets

Grenades FC maintained a one-point lead atop the Antigua & Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) Premier League table thanks to a 2-0 win over Piggott’s Bullets on Saturday at the ABFA Technical Center.

Luis Labrada opened the scoring in the 37th minute before, five minutes from full time, D’jarie Sheppard secured the three points for the league leaders who now have 23 points from nine games.

Also on Saturday, John Hughes FC and Attacking Saints FC got wins over Five Island FC and Garden Stars FC, respectively.

Goals from Deno Bryan in the 24th minute and Devontae Looby in the 52nd and 85th minutes gave John Hughes a comeback 3-1 win over Five Island after Samuel Semper gave Five Island the lead in the 16th minute.

An Ellsworth Mack strike in the 70th minute gave Attacking Saints a 1-0 win over Garden Stars.

On Sunday, Old Road defeated Greenbay Hoppers 2-0 thanks to goals from Gisner Joseph (18’) and Shavorn Phillip (53’) while Potters FC defeated Green City 3-1.

Mark Portsmouth gave Potters the lead in the seventh minute while Ordel Samuel made it 2-0 eight minutes into the second half.

Ranjae Williams got Green City back in the game in the 75th minute before, five minutes from full time, Keon Greene secured the points.

The fixture between All Saints United and Aston Villa was postponed.
