Reggae Boyz team manager Roy Simpson believes midfielder Ravel Morrison is finally ready to don the black, green and gold kit of Jamaica after a few years of ambivalence.

According to a report in the Gleaner, all that now seems to have changed as the Sheffield United player and several other English-based players are about to bolster the Reggae Boyz World Cup squad in time for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers set to begin in June 2021.

“I spoke to Ravel last Tuesday, and he was enquiring about international friendlies for the October window, and that is an indication that he is ready and interested and wants to play now,” said Simpson.

“He has a pending issue he needs to sort out, and he has indicated that he is near completion. It’s an issue I am aware of, and he and his agent are doing the continuous work on it. So it’s only a matter of time.”

As it relates to other players who he did not identify, Simpson said: “I received an email last Thursday from our contact in the UK that all the players we have targeted got appointments at the High Commission for their respective documents.

“Some are players we have been scouting for the past two years and have been in discussions with. They have done well in their concluded leagues, and we hope they carry that form over when all is sorted out with us.”
