Bajan winger Thierry Gale has completed a loan move from Austrian club SK Rapid Wien to Polish top division side Piast Gliwice. Gale will wear the number eleven jersey for Gliwice who will pay 100% of the 22-year-old’s salary.
The move away from Rapid Wien comes 17 months after he completed his biggest transfer from Georgian side FC Dila Gori in a record deal worth €700,000, plus €100,000 in add-ons (BDS $ 1.7 million), on a four-year contract.
Gliwice is currently sitting 10th in the Polish Ekstraklasa. Gale is expected to make his debut on Saturday versus Legia Warszawa who are currently fourth in the standings.
Gale, who plays for the Barbados senior men’s national team, has scored a single goal for Rapid in eight matches. For Barbados he has netted eight times in 15 appearances.
The move represents a fresh start for Gale who will be hoping for much needed playing time after suffering an injury which forced him out of Rapid squad.
