Jamaica’s Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw has been honoured with the Cyrille Regis Award at the 2025 Football Black List awards, recognizing her outstanding contribution to the Black community and football over the past year.

Named after the pioneering West Bromwich Albion, Coventry City, and England forward, the Cyrille Regis Award is carefully selected by the Regis family and is considered one of the event’s most prestigious honours. Shaw received the award during a special ceremony held at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday evening.

Shaw enjoyed a stellar 2024 season, being named the PFA, FWA, and WSL Player of the Year, while also becoming the first Manchester City player to win the Women’s Super League Golden Boot. She was also named in the WSL Team of the Year for the second consecutive season and etched her name into the club's history books by becoming City's all-time top scorer with her goal against Manchester United in a 3-1 victory at the Etihad Stadium in March 2024.

Beyond her exploits on the field, Shaw has proven an inspirational figure off it. In January 2025, after receiving vile online racist abuse, she delivered a powerful message with her response. Returning to action in an FA Cup tie against Leicester, Shaw celebrated scoring City’s third goal with a Black Power salute at the Joie Stadium — a gesture that received widespread praise across the football world and beyond.

Shaw’s actions, both on and off the pitch, have now been formally recognized with the Cyrille Regis Award, further cementing her impact as a leader and role model.

Everyone at Manchester City has extended congratulations to Shaw on receiving this prestigious honour.
