The Guyana Harpy Eagles posted a commanding response to Barbados Pride's first-innings total of 346, closing day two of their West Indies Championship encounter at the Guyana National Stadium at 315-3, with Kevlon Anderson and Kemol Savory leading the charge.

At stumps, Anderson remained unbeaten on 87, while Savory stood on the verge of a century at 95 not out, as Guyana put themselves in a strong position heading into the third day of play.

Guyana’s innings began steadily with Tagenarine Chanderpaul (40 off 98 balls) and Matthew Nandu (36 off 40 balls) putting on a solid 61-run opening stand before Nandu was dismissed by Chaim Holder.

Chanderpaul and Raymond Perez (46 off 76 balls) then stitched together a 63-run partnership, keeping the Barbados bowlers at bay before Javed Leacock broke the stand, dismissing Chanderpaul caught and bowled. Perez followed soon after, falling to Jair McAllister at 136-3, leaving Guyana in a slightly vulnerable position.

However, Anderson and Savory took full control of the innings, dominating the Barbados bowling attack with an unbroken 179-run fourth-wicket stand.

Kemol Savory is unbeaten on 87 at stumps on Day 2.

The 22-year-old Anderson, who looked in sublime form, played an aggressive knock of 87 off 89 balls, striking 14 boundaries. Meanwhile, captain Kemol Savory anchored the innings with a fluent 95 off 91 balls, smashing 14 fours and a six as he approached what would be a well-deserved century.

The Barbados Pride bowlers toiled hard but had little reward for their efforts, with only Chaim Holder (1-68), Javed Leacock (1-45), and McAllister (1-58) managing to break through.

With only 31 runs separating Guyana from Barbados' total and seven wickets in hand, the Harpy Eagles have the upper hand heading into the third day, eyeing a potential first-innings lead.

The match is now perfectly poised as Barbados will need quick breakthroughs on day three to avoid being put under scoreboard pressure later in the game. Guyana, on the other hand, will be eager to convert their strong platform into a commanding lead.
