Southend midfielder Jack Bridge saw his 20-yard effort saved midway through the first half, before Corey Whitely gave Bromley the lead in first-half stoppage time.
The Ravens doubled the lead early in the 54th minute when Olufela Olomola latched onto a defensive error before setting up Michael Cheek to knock the ball into an empty net.
Southend were forced into a change just after the hour following an injury to goalkeeper David Martin, with defender Gus Scott-Morriss going between the posts, before Brooklyn Kabongolo headed in a late consolation.
Struggling Ebbsfleet, beaten 3-2 at home by Bromley on Boxing Day, took a surprise eighth-minute lead through Luke O’Neill’s header.
But second-placed Bromley were ahead at the break through Michael Cheek and Ben Krauhaus.
Alex Kirk smashed home just after the restart, Olufela Olomola added another and Krauhaus completed the rout with his second two minutes from time.
Only two points separated the teams before kick-off, but an excellent first-half by the Ravens put them on the verge of clinching a third-placed finish in the division.
Goals by Michael Cheek and Jude Arthurs put Bromley in control and Ben Krauhaus added a late third to down Solihull, who have dropped to fifth in the table and can no longer finish in the top-three.
Visiting Solihull knew only a victory would keep alive their faint hopes of leapfrogging Bromley, but they went behind after 23 minutes.
Cheek smashed home from the penalty spot after Krauhaus had been fouled inside the area and Arthurs made it 2-0 before the break when he found the net from close-range.
Krauhaus wrapped up a crucial three points for Bromley after Ashley Charles had been denied five minutes from time.
It earned the hosts’ a semblance of revenge after Solihull had defeated them a week ago to reach the FA Trophy final.
The hosts were stunned when their struggling visitors snatched a fifth-minute lead when Tom Blair slotted the opener past Grant Smith.
But Deji Elerewe delighted the home fans in the 15th minute when he headed his first goal since returning to the club on loan from Charlton.
Dorking looked like they had done enough to break a run of two straight losses but Whitely popped up in the fourth minute of added time to claim the points for the hosts.
The Latics sit in the National League relegation zone after being swept aside by a side who have now won four in a row.
Josh Passley opened his account for Bromley in the 27th minute and Sam Woods doubled the advantage just before half-time.
And Corey Whitely made it three in the 67th minute, slotting into the bottom corner after being set up by Jude Arthurs to round off a miserable trip for Oldham.
Defender Bilongo, signed on loan from Middlesbrough earlier this month, headed home Ebbsfleet’s opener from a corner early in the second half.
Bilongo then set up Ebbsfleet’s second in the 53rd minute, bursting into the box and laying on a pass for Rakish Bingham, who duly converted.
Ebbsfleet wrapped up the points just after the hour-mark when Luke O’Neill’s header following a corner flew in off a post.
Victory lifted Ebbsfleet up two places from second bottom, but they remain in the relegation zone on goal difference, while Eastleigh’s winless league run was extended to nine matches.
The Harriers had seen off Aldershot and Hartlepool in the last week but came under pressure from their opponents as the first half progressed, with Sam Ling’s effort having to be cleared off the line.
But the visitors went ahead after 51 minutes as Richards collected Shane Byrne’s cute pass and thumped the ball beyond Daggers goalkeeper Elliot Justham and into the far corner.
Josh Rees had a chance to level soon after but miscued his finish and Kidderminster weathered the pressure in the final half hour to hold on and claim what could be an important win in their bid to beat the drop.
Alex Woodyard was shown his marching orders in the 19th minute of the contest at York Road, but Howe struck with four minutes left to cancel out Ashley Nathaniel-George’s second-half opener for Maidenhead.
Only one point separated the teams ahead of kick-off, but York’s hopes of a positive result were damaged when Woodyard caught Zico Asare with a poor challenge and received a red card.
After a goalless first half, Maidenhead won a penalty when Shawn McCoulsky was fouled inside the area and yet George Sykes-Kenworthy proved the hero for York with a fine save from Nathaniel-George’s spot-kick.
Nathaniel-George looked to have the last laugh when he lashed home two minutes later with 71 on the clock, but Howe pounced on a loose ball to score from close range and earn the 10 men a hard-fought point on the road.
Stead put the Bees ahead with just 60 seconds on the clock after scoring from a cross.
But the hosts missed the chance to double their lead when Zak Brunt had a penalty saved in the 35th minute.
Stead celebrated his brace in the 72nd minute to send Barnet above Bromley – who could only draw at Oldham – in the table to sit 17 points behind league leaders Chesterfield, while Rochdale dropped to 14th.
The Bees went ahead in the 27th minute when Stead sent a drive past goalkeeper George Sykes-Kenworthy and into the bottom corner.
Stead then beat Sykes-Kenworthy again in a one-on-one just past the hour mark to double the hosts’ advantage.
What was only a second victory in six saw Dean Brennan’s Barnet go above Bromley on goal difference – the Raves lost 2-0 at Eastleigh – while Neal Ardley’s York, winless in four, drop to 20th, a point above the relegation zone.
The 23-year-old’s opener was in large part thanks to imposing forward Nicke Kabamba, who provided the pinpoint flick for Stead to poke past Marcin Brzozowski.
Stead linked up with Kabamba again for his second, a sharp strike into the top corner giving the Hoops goalkeeper little chance of a save.
The visitors were also given a boost by keeper Laurie Walker, who made several key stops to secure the clean sheet, while the Bees saw a potential third ruled out for offside.
The hosts broke the deadlock in the ninth minute through Marcus Dinanga before Jordan Hunter made it 2-0 six minutes later after Dinanga had seen his shot saved by visiting goalkeeper Nathan Ashmore.
Ashmore then produced a smart save in first-half stoppage time to prevent Dinanga from making it 3-0 from range.
Boreham Wood flew out of the blocks in the second half and got a goal back through Kwesi Appiah in the 60th minute.
Timmy Abraham was sent off for the visitors in the 84th minute but Coxe’s volley in the third minute of added time saw Boreham Wood leave with a point.
Jimmy Keohane fired home a rebound to give Rochdale an early lead and Kairo Mitchell headed them 2-0 up, with Jesurun Uchegbulam prominent in the build-up to both goals.
Southend reduced the deficit through Cardwell’s header before the interval and the forward hauled the Shrimpers level with his ninth league goal of the season, heading home Jack Wood’s cross in the 64th minute.
The impressive Uchegbulam’s fierce effort was well saved by visiting goalkeeper David Martin as Southend, deducted 10 points at the start of the season for breaching financial rules, remain second from bottom in the National League.
Carter, signed from Eastleigh for an undisclosed fee in October, struck the game’s only goal inside the near post shortly before half-time.
Gateshead midfielder Regan Booty was shown a straight red card in the 25th minute for his reckless challenge on Dorking striker Jason Prior.
Dorking dominated possession up until the break but failed to test the visitors’ on-loan Chelsea goalkeeper Chris Beach until Carter fired home from the edge of the penalty area after being teed up by Josh Taylor in the 43rd minute
Gateshead improved after the break and after Connor McBride’s shot from the edge of the box hit a post and Luke Hannant was denied by Dorking goalkeeper Harrison Male.
Reece Smith came close for Maidenhead but Christian Dibble saved before Harriers had a chance when Amari Morgan-Smith headed wide from Jack Lambert’s free-kick.
Casey Pettit broke the deadlock in the 67th minute, slotting the ball past Dibble to send the Magpies into the top half of the table while Kidderminster remain in the relegation zone.
The Spireites had slumped to their first defeat in 14 league games at Southend on Saturday but were in no mood to let the hosts inflict another upset loss.
The visitors had the better chances in the opening period, with James Berry bringing a good save out of Alexis Andre before Joe Quigley slotted their opener on 39 minutes.
Quigley missed a chance to double his side’s lead midway through the second half before Armando Dobra made sure of the points 10 minutes from time when he slotted home from a Liam Mandeville cross.
The Spireites only needed a point to rubberstamp their place in League Two but instead were beaten by the in-form Shaymen, who moved into the play-off places after a seventh win in eight games.
Paul Cook’s front-runners took the lead shortly after the half-hour when top-scorer Will Grigg prodded home a rebound off the post, but were behind within eight minutes as Ryan Harker snapped up a quick-fire double.
Halifax made it 3-1 just before the break through Andrew Oluwabori, who then turned provider for Aaron Cosgrave in the 66th minute.
James Berry-McNally raced clear to grab one back with 11 minutes left but Chesterfield were unable to fashion the comeback that would have secured top spot in the division.
A week after hitting four against Dorking, the Spireites had a second successive win wrapped up by half-time.
Tyrone Williams set them on their way with a sixth-minute effort, then Liam Mandeville, who scored twice in the victory over Dorking, made it 2-0 before Will Grigg added a third before the interval.
It was damage limitation for Fylde in the second period, but any small hope of sparking a fightback were extinguished when Ryan Colclough netted Chesterfield’s fourth after 49 minutes.
To their credit, Fylde did not fold and late goals from Jonathan Ustabasi and Harry Davis gave the scoreline a degree of respectability, although Davis was sent off in the sixth minute of added time for a second bookable offence.
The three points moved the Spireites into second in the National League table but they had to come from behind after Aldershot opened the scoring in the 25th minute when Josh Stokes pounced on a loose ball in the middle to fire the hosts into the lead.
Chesterfield levelled just eight minutes later when a corner came in and after a goalmouth scramble, Ryan Colclough was able to stab the ball home.
The visitors took the lead three minutes into the second half when Jeff King’s cross was blocked and Will Grigg tucked the ball past Jack Bycroft.
They added a third in the 54th minute when Tom Naylor headed home from close range for his second goal in two games.
The Shots pulled one back six minutes later after Lorent Tolaj found Jack Barham in the box and the forward was able to tap the ball in at the far post.
Barham added a second to equalise in the 84th minute with a header from Ollie Harfield’s cross, but Quigley found the winner in the 87th minute and Theo Widdrington’s late red card added to Aldershot’s frustration.
Grigg tucked home his 17th goal of the season following a Liam Mandeville free-kick after 24 minutes at the SMH Group Stadium.
Armando Dobra and Mandeville both had chances to add to the lead before Woking’s Dennon Lewis tested goalkeeper Harry Tyrer after the break.
Substitute Ricky Korboa went close to snatching a last-minute equaliser for the visitors but the Spireites held on to extend their run of successive home wins in all competitions to a club record-equalling 17.
