Jamaica’s Demario Prince and Jerome Campbell both successfully made it through the heats of the men’s 60m hurdles during the morning session on day two of the World Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China on Friday.
Prince, a sophomore at the Baylor University, produced 7.70 to finish third in heat one and advance alongside China’s Weibo Qin (7.64), Belgium’s Michael Obasuyi (7.67) and Mali’s Richard Diawara (7.79).
Campbell, a Northern Colorado junior, got through to the next round with a 7.61 effort to finish second in the third heat behind Italy’s Lorenzo Simonelli who also ran 7.61. Brazil’s Rafael Pereira (7.65) and Hungary’s Balint Szeles (7.89) also made it through from that heat.
Campbell recently took silver at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
Barbadian Nikkolia Kennedy advanced from the fifth and final heat with a 7.89 effort to finish fourth behind Poland's Jakub Szymanski (7.55), China's Junxi Liu (7.64) and Mauritius' Jeremie Lararadeuse (7.72).
