It's always heartwarming to see the Pocket Rocket Foundation providing young student athletes with an opportunity to pursue a higher education.
It feels even better when the recipient of that opportunity grabs onto said opportunity with both hands and shines with flying colors.
That situation aptly describes 2018 Pocket Rocket Foundation Scholarship recipient Atena Rayson.
Rayson, a former student at Vere Technical, graduated from Grand Canyon University in Arizona with First Class Honors last December.
The foundation congratulated her for her outstanding achievement in an Instagram post on Thursday.
“Huge congratulations to our 2018 Pocket Rocket Foundation Scholarship Recipient, Atena Rayson, on graduating with First Class Honors from Grand Canyon University in Arizona this December! Atena has made us incredibly proud with her outstanding achievements both academically and athletically.”
Rayson was a standout voice during the foundation’s Check-In Chat last April, sharing valuable insights on the challenges and triumphs of pursuing tertiary education abroad as a student-athlete.
“Her resilience and determination are truly inspiring. We are excited to see what the future holds for her as she plans to pursue her Master’s program. Well done, Atena! Your Pocket Rocket Foundation family celebrates you!”
