Jamaican standouts Brianna Lyston, Nikisha Pryce, and Joanne Reid are among the athletes set to compete at the Tyson Invitational at the Randal Tyson Track Centre on Friday. The highly anticipated meet will bring together top collegiate and professional athletes, with many using the event to gauge their early-season form.
Lyston, the defending NCAA Indoor 60m champion, is scheduled to make her season debut in the event. After a breakout 2024 campaign, the LSU sophomore is expected to build on her momentum as she faces a competitive field, including TCU’s Indya Mayberry, the current collegiate leader, and LSU’s Tima Godbless.
Pryce, an Arkansas alum and 2024 Olympic finalist, will line up in a stacked 400m field. She will go up against Salwa Eid Naser of Bahrain, the 2024 Olympic silver medalist, as well as fellow Arkansas alum Amber Anning. The field also includes U.S. Olympic medalists Anna Cockrell and Dalilah Muhammad, ensuring a highly competitive race.
Reid, representing the No. 2-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks, is also slated to compete in the 400m Invitational, where she will test herself against some of the best collegiate and professional quarter-milers. Arkansas head coach Chris Johnson expressed excitement about the meet, noting its legacy as one of the top indoor competitions in the United States.
With elite talent on display across multiple events, the Tyson Invitational is set to deliver thrilling performances. For Pryce, this competition serves as an important stepping stone as she fine-tunes her form ahead of the Grand Slam Track Series in Kingston, Jamaica, from April 4-6.
