Jamaica’s Isaac Mair has described his B Class victory at the Florida State Championships this past weekend as 'the sweetest' of his wins this year.

Shooting 200 birds over the two-day competition at the OK Corral Gun Club in Okeechobee, Florida, Mair bagged 88 on day one and 89 on day two, for an overall score of 177. Anthony Hagan shot 172 for second the same score as Core Sellers who was third. Christopher Thornton shot 165 for fourth. Rounding out the top five was Wiverson Trecenti who shot 164 for fifth.

“This is great, really great. I have been competing for over 10 years overall, and competing in the US for three,” said Mair who was notching his third win from four competitions in 2021. “I have been able to see the results from all my practice.

“Saturday was really windy but the sun was out but Sunday was horrible, there was rain and it was 60degrees. The wind chill made it feel like 50. To pull off the win in those conditions made the win even sweeter.”

He expressed gratitude to his coach Khaleel Azan and his sponsors Wincorp International for their support that has got him this far in his skeet shooting career. He was also grateful to his squad members Timothy Overton and Rory Wilson

He told Sportsmax.TV that competing in international competition more frequently has helped him improve his shooting as such he is hoping to enter several more tournaments during the course of the year.

Mair, 24, left Jamaica in 2014 to attend the University of South Florida where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing.
