Olympic silver medalist and 2025 World Indoor silver medalist Wayne Pinnock kicked off his outdoor season at the Xiamen Diamond League, registering 8.06m. While the mark was a decent start, Pinnock felt he had room for improvement.
Speaking to SportsMax TV after his performance, Pinnock shared his thoughts on the competition. "8.06 wasn’t what I expected to start my season," he said. "I felt like I didn't quite hit the mark. My run-up was a bit off, and I didn't get the best takeoff. I think I rushed a bit in my approach and could have controlled my speed better."
Pinnock's season opener mark of 8.06 meters is slightly below his outdoor season best from last year, which was 8.14 meters. However, he's optimistic about building on this performance.
"Going into the next meet, I’ll be working on my rhythm, making sure my takeoff is more explosive, and really focusing on my technique throughout the whole jump," Pinnock revealed.
Pinnock's self-assessment highlights his dedication to refining his craft. He emphasized the importance of building on each competition, noting that every race provides an opportunity to gain valuable experience and fine-tune his skills.
With his sights set on improvement, Pinnock is preparing for his next competition at the Shanghai Diamond League this Saturday. The event will feature a talented field, and Pinnock is poised to push himself to new heights.
