FedEx Field will be used to house a community testing site for coronavirus, the Washington Redskins have announced.

The NFL franchise are working in conjunction with the Prince George's and Maryland Health Department to set up a community screening station in the stadium's parking lots.

Work began on Friday with the Maryland National Guard putting up 10 tents and handwashing stations. According to media reports, the testing facility will be up and running within the next week.

There have been nearly 27,000 reported COVID-19 cases in the United States so far, with 349 deaths.

Washington finished bottom of the NFC East last season with a 3-13 record. They fired head coach Jay Gruden during the disappointing campaign, naming Ron Rivera as successor in January.
