The journey to Caymanas Park's marquee race day, the Mouttet Mile Invitational, is set to officially begin with the running of the Ian Levy Cup on April 5. The Ian Levy Cup marks the first "Win and You're In" Grade 1 series on the 2025 racing calendar.

The Ian Levy Cup is the most recent addition to the "Win and You're In" feature races, which offers winners automatic entry into the prestigious Mouttet Mile. The series was successfully introduced last year, and races such as The Jamaica Derby (GR. I) - 12 furlongs (August 6, 2025), The Philip Feanny OD Gold Cup (GR. I) - 7 furlongs (October 4, 2025), The Jamaica Cup (GR. I) - 9½ furlongs (November 8, 2025), and The Port Royal Sprint (GR. I) - 6 furlongs (November 8, 2025) are again in the lineup.

Solomon Sharpe, Executive Chairman of Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Limited (SVREL), operators of Caymanas Park, expressed his excitement at officially starting the countdown to the Mouttet Mile with the Ian Levy Cup.

"The addition of the Ian Levy Cup to our 'Win and You're In' series creates an exciting year-long journey toward the Mouttet Mile. The feature gives horsemen multiple pathways to our signature event and adds significance to each of these Grade 1 races throughout the season. Starting in April with the Ian Levy Cup, racing fans can follow the road to the Mouttet Mile all year long,” Sharpe said.

Connections of last year's Mouttet Mile winner, Funcaandun, collect their spoils.

The fourth running of the Mouttet Mile, set for December 6, will see a maximum field of 16 horses competing for a historic US$300,000—the largest ever yet again. Eight positions will be reserved for horses domiciled in Jamaica before January 1, 2025, and eight positions will be reserved for horses not domiciled on the island at the start of this year. In another exciting move to curate the best possible field of entrants, one position from the international allocation will be specifically reserved for a New York Racing Association (NYRA)-based entrant.

"SVREL is always proactively seeking ways to improve on each staging of the Mouttet Mile. With the addition of the Ian Levy Cup as a Win and You’re In race, a dedicated slot for a NYRA-based competitor, and the historic US$300,000 purse, the 2025 Mouttet Mile is shaping up to be the best staging yet,” Sharpe declared.

Interested owners and trainers must submit their letter of intent to participate to the Racing Secretary by September 30, 2025. Early submissions are encouraged as interest in the event continues to grow year over year.
