Mount Pleasant Academy are the new record holders for the most consecutive wins in the Wray & Nephew Jamaica Premier League after a 1-0 victory over Tivoli Gardens FC at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex on Sunday moved their streak to 11 matches. Sue-Lae McCalla got the game’s only goal six minutes before halftime to move Mount Pleasant to 49 points after 20 games.
The second match of the double-header at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex saw Arnett Gardens and defending champions Cavalier SC play out a 2-2 draw.
A 2nd minute strike from Justin Dunn gave Cavalier an early lead before Jalmaro Calvin doubled their advantage 10 minutes before halftime with his 10th goal of the season.
Arnett were back in the game quickly, however, when Warner Brown converted a penalty in first half stoppage time to make it 2-1.
Arnett got their equalizer in the 68th minute through Joel Jones.
The drawn result means Arnett remains third in the table on 39 points, two points behind Montego Bay United who played out a 0-0 draw with Portmore United at Ferdie Neita Park, while Cavalier are fifth on 33 points, one behind Portmore United.
Elsewhere on Sunday, Chapelton Maroons defeated Waterhouse 3-0 at Drewsland.
Daniel Watson gave the Maroons the lead in the 11th minute before Jamari Howell made it 2-0 four minutes later.
Levaughn Williams completed the scoring in the 63rd minute to help Chapelton move up to ninth in the table on 20 points while Waterhouse remain sixth on 33 points, missing a chance to leapfrog Cavalier and move into the top five.
The second game at Drewsland saw Racing United defeat Vere Phoenix United 3-0 thanks to goals from Nickyle Ellis (29’), Jakob Cole (43’) and Tyrone Mullings (88’).
Racing United and Vere Phoenix are eighth and 11th in the table with 22 points and 17 points, respectively.
At the Harbour View Stadium, the hosts moved off the foot of the table thanks to a 4-1 win over Dunbeholden.
Javid George gave Harbour View the lead in the 18th minute before a penalty from Trayvon Reid in the 38th minute and a goal from Colorado Murray in first half stoppage time made it 3-0 going into the break.
Five minutes into the second half, Timar Lewis made it 4-0. Chevoy Watkin got a consolation goal for Dunbeholden in the 58th minute.
The win mover Harbour View to 12th on the 14-team table with 16 points, ahead of Dunbeholden on goal difference and Humble Lion by two points.
Humble Lion will take on Molynes United in the Monday night fixture at Drewsland.
