Montego Bay United FC wasted little time in reshaping its leadership following the sudden departure of head coach Rodolfo Zapata, as they appointed club legend Paul "Tegat" Davis as head coach and seasoned tactician Andrew Peart as technical director.

Chairman Yoni Epstein, who unveiled the club’s new strategic direction, said the decision is a calculated move to ensure both immediate success and long-term dominance as they intend to salvage the current season and, by extension, lay the foundation for sustained excellence.

“As a club, we took a deliberate approach in evaluating what was needed for both short-term success and long-term dominance," said Epstein in a statement on the club’s social media page.

"We are confident that this leadership team, working alongside our exceptional existing staff—including Dillon Thelwell, Loxley Reid, our Strength & Conditioning team, and Physio Dr. Kevin Christie—provides the final piece to our foundation for the future,” he added.

Davis is no stranger to Montego Bay United. Having already guided the club to a Jamaica Premier League (JPL) title in the past, he returns with a winning pedigree and an intimate understanding of the club’s culture. His track record also includes championship success with Arnett Gardens.

Meanwhile, Peart brings a wealth of experience from his time at Glennmuir High, where he helped shape some of Jamaica’s brightest young footballing talents. His appointment as technical director signals Montego Bay United’s commitment to building a robust player development system that will sustain the club’s competitiveness for years to come.

With Montego Bay United firmly in the JPL title race in third position on 48 points behind Mount Pleasant FA (58) and Arnett Gardens (45), Epstein made it clear that the immediate objective remains to secure domestic success and qualify for the prestigious Caribbean Cup. However, he stressed that the club's ambitions stretch far beyond the current campaign.

“While winning the league and qualifying for the Caribbean Cup remain top priorities, our vision extends far beyond this season," Epstein stated.

“We are committed to building a winning organization from the ground up, with a strong emphasis on youth development. We believe that by strengthening the pipeline of talent within Jamaica, Montego Bay United FC will not only reclaim domestic glory but also establish itself as a powerhouse in the region for years to come.

“The board of MBU stands fully behind this team and its mission. Let’s go win this league—this is just the beginning,” he ended.
