The road in the Concacaf U20 Women’s Championships has proved challenging for St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the Cayman Islands, both enduring heavy defeats in their respective group matches on Saturday.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines struggled against an in-form Nicaragua team, falling 5-0 at Estadio Nacional de Fútbol in Managua, Nicaragua.

Adriana Munguia opened the scoring with a powerful left-footed shot in the 14th minute, setting the tone for the hosts. Perla Garache added Nicaragua’s second goal in the 18th minute, putting St. Vincent and the Grenadines under early pressure.

After the halftime break, Daniela Manzanares made it 3-0 in the 49th minute with a well-executed free kick. Munguia was again in the right place to finish at the goal line in the 69th minute before Garache capped off the night with a towering header in the 85th minute to complete Nicaragua’s dominant performance.

Elsewhere, Costa Rica asserted dominance in Group F with a commanding 7-0 victory over the Cayman Islands at Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva, Trinidad and Tobago.

Keisy Taylor wasted no time putting Costa Rica ahead with an early goal in the 2nd minute. Sheika Scott extended the lead in the 7th minute and doubled her tally in the 30th with a right-footed strike from the top of the box. Fabiana Sanabria capitalized on a corner kick in the 37th minute, adding to Costa Rica’s comfortable lead.

Just before halftime, Taylor secured her brace in the 45’+1’ to give Las Ticas a 5-0 advantage heading into the break. Tiara Ruiz’s 56th-minute header and Lucia Panigua’s late strike in the 88th minute sealed the emphatic win for Costa Rica, who now top the group standings.

Meanwhile, El Salvador delivered a clinical display to defeat the U.S. Virgin Islands 6-0 at Estadio Olímpico Félix Sánchez in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Alexis Butz initiated the scoring in the 24th minute, pouncing on a loose ball in the box. Maya Buerger notched her first goal of the match in the 15th minute, giving El Salvador an early cushion.

Angie Alvarenga showcased her long-range ability with a stunning goal from outside the box in the 52nd minute. The number 10 completed her brace with a precise header in the 80th minute.

Makayla Marin added her name to the scoresheet in the 87th minute, calmly slotting in a close-range effort. Buerger then rounded off the dominant display with her second goal in stoppage time (90’+1’), securing a well-deserved three points for El Salvador.
