Jamaican international Brandon Cover has completed a loan move to Fleetwood Town from Premier League club Leicester City, securing a deal that will keep him at Highbury Stadium until the end of the 2024-25 season. This marks the 21-year-old midfielder’s second loan stint in League Two, following a successful spell at Port Vale earlier in the campaign.
Cover, who made his senior debut for Jamaica in June 2023 as a substitute against Jordan, has been steadily rising through the ranks. Born in England to a Jamaican father, he has also featured for Jamaica's U23 team, earning a call-up for the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games.
A product of Leicester City's Youth Academy, Cover has been with the club since the age of seven. His talent was recognized early on, leading to a scholarship contract in June 2022 and a professional deal in October 2022. Under Brendan Rodgers' management, he trained with Leicester’s first team, gaining valuable experience.
His versatility and talent were on display when he featured at right-back in an EFL Trophy game against Fleetwood Town in November 2023, a performance that helped attract interest from the club. Following that, he joined Port Vale on loan in August 2024, making his League Two debut and scoring his first professional goal against Swindon Town in September 2024.
Speaking on his move to Fleetwood, Cover expressed his excitement, describing it as a "perfect step for his development." The loan spell will provide him with regular first-team football, helping him gain more experience as he continues to refine his game and push for a spot in Jamaica’s national squad for future international tournaments.
With Fleetwood Town looking to strengthen their squad, Cover’s arrival adds quality and depth in midfield, and he will be eager to make an immediate impact as he continues his professional journey.
