United States great Becky Sauerbrunn is hanging up her boots after earning 219 caps and winning two World Cups.
Becky Sauerbrunn has called time on her career, stepping away from both the Portland Thorns and the United States.
The 39-year-old has played in every season of the National Women's Soccer League to date and earned 219 international caps.
But she announced on Tuesday she was quitting the sport, having won three NWSL championships, two World Cups and an Olympic gold medal.
Sauerbrunn said of her USWNT career: "I learned early on that we were all just renting our jerseys.
"That I got to wear the US Soccer crest once was an honour and privilege for which I'm forever grateful. The fact that I got to do it over 200 times is truly humbling.
"I competed with and learned from some of the greatest players and leaders this sport has ever seen, and I consider myself beyond lucky to have been able to play a small part in this programme's storied history."
