
West Indies Captain Hayley Matthews starred with three wickets to help her Mumbai Indians Women secure a five-wicket win over the Gujarat Titans Women in Women’s Premier League (WPL) action at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara on Tuesday.
Matthews took 3-16 from her four overs, bringing her total to five wickets in two games so far, as the Indians restricted the Giants to just 120 all out in their 20 overs.
Amelia Kerr and Nat Sciver-Brunt provided good support for Matthews with 2-22 and 2-26, respectively.
Harleen Deol led the scoring for the Giants with 32 off 31 balls while Kashvee Gautam made 20 off 15 deliveries.
Mumbai then needed just 16.1 overs to reach 122-5 and secure their first win of the season after a loss to the Delhi Capitals in their opening game.
Sciver-Brunt led the way with 57 off 39 balls, her second fifty in as many games, including 11 fours.
Kerr was the next highest scorer with 19 while Matthews contributed 17 at the top of the order.
Gautam completed a solid all-round outing with 2-15 from three overs while Priya Mishra took 2-40 from four overs.
