Gujarat Titans moved up to second in the Indian Premier League after beating Sunrisers Hyderabad in a win led by Mohammed Siraj.

Mohammed Siraj's career-best Indian Premier League figures led Gujarat Titans to a seven-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday.

Siraj took 4-17 as the Sunrisers endured another difficult day with the bat, managing 152-8 from their 20 overs, with Shubman Gill and Washington Sundar's partnership helping to seal the win for the Titans.

India international Siraj spearheaded Gujarat's attack by dismissing Abhishek Sharma (18) and Travis Head (eight) in the powerplay.

Ishan Kishan (17) soon followed, with the Titans going 36 balls without a boundary and had to wait until the 13th over for their first six, provided by Heinrich Klassen.

The Sunrisers' middle order was then stifled by Sai Kishore (2-24), who cut Klassen's innings short before dismissing top scorer Nitish Kumar Reddy (31) shortly after.

Captain Pat Cummins put on a fine cameo late on, plundering 22 runs from nine deliveries, and the Sunrisers had hope when the Titans were reduced to 2-16 after Sai Sudharsan (five) and Jos Buttler (zero) fell early.

However, Gill and Sundar steered the match away from the Sunrisers, producing a 90-run stand before the latter was dismissed by Mohammed Shami (2-28).

Sherfane Rutherford was on hand to guide the Titans over the line with 20 balls to spare with a quickfire 35.

The Titans move up to second in the standings, while the Sunrisers remain bottom after falling to their fourth consecutive defeat.

Data Debrief: Sensational Siraj hits a ton

Sundar and Gill's partnership is the Titans' highest for the third wicket in the IPL, breaking the record of 86 previously held between Shahrukh Khan and Sudharsan.

But the victory was built on Siraj's brilliant bowling. He picked up his 100th wicket in the IPL with the dismissal of Abhishek, and the sixth in the powerplay in the competition this season. No bowler has more than him in the first six overs of matches so far this campaign.

However, there was cause for concern with another of their bowlers. Rashid Khan went wicketless for a third successive game, and after four matches this season, he has figures of 1-143 after bowling 14 overs.
