The Velocity Fest 16 track and field meet, originally scheduled for March 22, 2025, at the National Stadium in Kingston, has been relocated to the Ashenheim Stadium at Jamaica College following the rescheduling of the handover ceremony for the newly resurfaced track.

The ceremony, which was initially set for Friday, March 21, has now been moved to Tuesday, March 25—coinciding with the opening day of the 2025 ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls’ Athletics Championships. As a result, the National Stadium will not be available for competition on March 22, prompting the move.

MVP Track Club President Bruce James confirmed the change, stating:

"We have been advised by Independence Park Limited that the Friday, March 21, 2025, handover date of the black, green, and gold track has now been moved to Tuesday, March 25 (Champs Day 1). As such, Velocity Fest 16 will be hosted at Ashenheim Stadium, Jamaica College, on our date of Saturday, March 22, 2025."

National Stadium Track Ready for Champs and Grand Slam Series
The resurfacing of the Regupol track at the National Stadium began after the Gibson-McCook Relays and, despite an initial delay due to the late arrival of equipment, is set to be completed in time for both Champs 2025 and the much-anticipated inaugural Grand Slam Track Series, scheduled for April 4-6, 2025.

Jamaica’s Minister of Sport, Olivia Grange, has reassured the public that the track—now featuring the black, green, and gold colors of the national flag—will be ready for competition as planned.
