
Louisiana State University pair Jaiden Reid and Jaheim Stern were among the winners at the 2025 LSU Purple Tiger Invitational at the Maddox Field House on Friday.
Reid, a two-time medallist at the Carifta Games for the Cayman Islands, won the men’s 60m in 6.73 ahead of UTRGV’s Corin Burns (6.79) and Louisiana’s Lawson Jacobs (6.83).
Stern, a Jamaican junior, tied this season’s NCAA lead with 7.64 to win the men’s 60m hurdles ahead of schoolmate Matthew Sophia (7.72) and US Express Elite Track Club’s Maalik Marshall (7.98).
Stern’s time is the fifth-fastest in LSU school history.
Another Jamaican, Xavier University of Louisiana sophomore Jaheene Bell, won the men’s 400m in 49.68 ahead of McNeese State’s Nicholas Moron (50.11) and Hinds Community College’s Craig Carson (51.20).
In the field, Jamaican LSU sophomore Machaeda Linton, in her first meet for LSU after transferring from Williams Carey where she competed in 2024, produced 6.42m to take the win in the long jump ahead of teammate Taylor Fingers (5.65m) and Louisiana Tech’s Leah Ellis (5.57m).
