Campbell, Wilson secure 60m hurdles wins at Clemson Invitational

Jamaica’s Lafranz Campbell and Oneka Wilson won the respective men’s and women’s 60m hurdles events at the Clemson Invitational held at the Clemson Indoor Track and Field Complex on Saturday.

Campbell, a former star at Clemson, took the men’s event in 7.70 ahead of Florida State sophomore Andre Korbmacher (7.74) while Campbell’s countryman Giano Roberts was third in 7.79.

Roberts was also third in the men’s 200m behind Clemson freshmen Jalen Johnson (20.95) and Ian Johnson (21.04).

Wilson, now a junior at Clemson, ran 8.21 to win the women’s event ahead of East Carolina’s Aaliyah Brown-Muhammad (8.29) and Clemson’s Aysia Fingall (8.77).

The women’s 600m saw a pair of Jamaican Clemson Tigers, junior Jessica McLean and senior Jody Ann Dixon run 1:33.72 and 1:34.01 for first and second, respectively, while Life’s Najah Gibson was third in 1:37.31.

Jamaican Florida State junior Shenese Walker took top spot in the women’s 60m in 7.20 ahead of the East Carolina pair of freshman Kelly Ufodiama (7.27) and senior Brianna Clayton (7.35).

Clemson freshman Shanque Williams, younger sister of Olympian Stacey Ann Williams, won the women’s 300m in 38.16.

In the field, Clemson junior Shantae Foreman comfortably won the women’s triple jump with a best effort of 13.84m ahead of East Carolina senior L’Nya Carpenter (12.51m) and Florida State junior Kayla Pinkard (12.10m).

Jamaica and East Carolina went 1-2 in the men’s shot put through Shakiel Dacres (16.72m) and Brandon Gayle (15.71m).
