Ashinia Miller produces 20-metre throw for bronze at Czech Republic meet
Ashinia Miller said he enjoyed competing in the shot put at the Klando Hazi A Klandenski Memorial meeting in the Czech Republic last Thursday.
The 27-year-old Jamaican, who lives and trains in Europe, finished third in the shot put in the newly formed Continental Series. His mark of 20.01 was only two centimetres behind Poland’s Jakub Szyszkowski’s 20.03m.
Tomas Stanek of the Czech Republic took the gold medal with a mark of 20.19m.
Miller said he was just glad to be competing once more.
“Felt great going into the competition,” he said. “However, a lot of injuries just showed up a day before and on the day of the competition.
“All and all just have to give thanks, but I toughed it out.”
With the solid performance behind him, Miller said he would now focus on resting and preparing for background training.
