The Annotto Bay High School has been in existence for over twelve (12) years. Established with funds from the Jamaican Government under the Reform of Secondary Education (ROSE) Project, its conception dates back some fifteen years ago when it was determined that the populace needed to be uplifted through Higher learning. The need became even more urgent when the number of graduates from primary, all age and preparatory schools within the adjoining communities escalated beyond the capacity of what the nearest secondary schools could cope with.
The school which is located on a 23 acre (9.4 Hectares) property in Iterboreale, Annotto Bay started admitting students in August 2001. On September 3, 2001, the school opened its doors to 275 students with Mr. Lambert Robinson at the helm. There were fourteen (14) teachers, seven (7) Administrative and twelve (12) Ancillary employees. On October 19, 2001, Annotto Bay High School was officially opened by then Prime Minister of Jamaica, Hon. Percival J. Patterson, Q,C., M.P. The school setting at that point in time was a learning experience for all concerned.
