Jamaican sprinter Christania Williams will push the 2-woman bobsleigh of Austrian 2021 Overall World Cup Champion and former Junior World Champion pilot Katrin Beierl at the IBSF World Cup in Innsbruck-Igls on January 18 and 19, the Austrian Bobsleigh, Luge and Skeleton Federation confirmed at a press conference on Thursday.

The 30-year-old Williams, who boasts a personal best of 10.96 seconds in the 100m, currently trains at the sports centre in St. Pölten in Lower Austria and the connection between her and Beierl was established because Beierl, a two-time European bronze medallist, also trains there in the summer.

Williams was a 100m finalist at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro where she also won a silver medal with Jamaica's 4x100m relay team.

A year later, she ran in the heats of the 4x100m relay at the World Championships in London where Jamaica took bronze in the final.

2018 saw her achieve her most significant individual success, winning 100m silver at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia where she was also part of Jamaica’s silver medal-winning 4x100m relay team.

She was in Jamaica set to compete at last year’s national championships but didn’t show up for the 100m heats.

Sportsmax.tv understands that Williams' aim is to help Austria qualify for the 2026 Winter Olympics, after which she will make a decision about her track and field future.
