Jamaican striker Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw reached another milestone in her illustrious career, making her 100th appearance for Manchester City during the team’s 3-4 defeat to Arsenal in the Barclays Women’s Super League on Sunday.
Shaw, who came off the bench to mark the occasion, has been a key player for City since joining in 2021 from Bordeaux. Her remarkable goal-scoring prowess has seen her net 86 times in those 100 appearances, making her the Club’s all-time leading scorer.
A two-time Manchester City Player of the Year, Shaw wasted little time in establishing herself as a dominant force in English football. She played a pivotal role in City’s League Cup triumph in 2022, scoring 19 goals in her debut season.
Her second campaign saw her set a new club record with 31 goals in 30 matches, cementing her status as one of the world’s elite forwards. She followed that up with another exceptional season in 2023/24, scoring 22 goals in 25 games and claiming the Women’s Super League Golden Boot, as well as individual accolades from the PFA, FWA, and WSL.
Currently leading the WSL scoring charts once again with nine goals this season and 14 in all competitions, Shaw remains a crucial figure in Gareth Taylor’s squad.
She becomes just the 19th player in Manchester City’s history to reach 100 appearances and only the sixth in the current squad to achieve the feat.
Despite City’s narrow loss to Arsenal, Shaw’s century of appearances is a testament to her consistency, talent, and importance to the club.
Manchester City congratulated Shaw on her latest achievement, stating, "Everyone at Manchester City would like to congratulate Bunny on her incredible milestone and the impact she continues to make at the Club. Her dedication and goal-scoring prowess have been truly outstanding."
Everyone at Manchester City and across the footballing world congratulates Bunny Shaw on yet another incredible milestone.
