Sean Dyche believes Everton “answered questions” with their dominant 4-0 win against Wolves at Goodison Park.

It marked the hosts’ biggest home win since April 2019, as they provided an energetic performance to see off fellow strugglers Wolves with all four of their goals coming from set-pieces.

Ashley Young opened the scoring with his 50th Premier League goal before Orel Mangala added a second before the break. A night to forget for Craig Dawson saw the Wolves defender concede two own goals in the second half.

It was a comprehensive victory for Everton, who rose five points clear of the relegation zone, leaving Dyche content with the trajectory of his side.

“There's been a lot of question marks about what we are trying to achieve here and we had to answer them - I think the players have done,” he told BBC 5 Live Sport.

"It was a good performance, a committed performance. I said in the week to the group, 'I couldn't be any more proud of these players'.

"They have been through all sorts and they have kept going."

The hosts also beat Wolves for expected goals (xG), finishing with a total of 1.02 compared to the visitors’ 0.79.

They have kept a clean sheet in five of their 14 Premier League games this term. Only Liverpool (seven) and Manchester United (six) have done so more often in the league this season.
