Wavell Hinds says he remains committed to serving in the best interest of players after being re-elected unopposed as president of the West Indies Players’ Association (WIPA) for a seventh consecutive term.
Hinds, who has led WIPA since 2011, will continue to work alongside his executive team of vice-president Nixon McLean; honorary secretary Wayne Lewis; Liam Sebastien, who will continue to serve as assistant secretary; and treasurer Ridley Jacobs, as all were unanimously re-elected for another term, which will run until 2027.
“I remain committed to prioritising the needs of our players and membership throughout my leadership,” Hinds said during WIPA’s annual general meeting (AGM) at the St Kitts Marriott on Sunday.
“I extend a warm welcome to our new director, Ms. Rashada Williams, and wish her and the entire executive team success in the upcoming term,” he added.
Jamaica women’s captain Rashada Williams was appointed as WIPA’s second non-elected director, joining Barbadian Shakera Selman on the board.
The AGM coincided with the Women’s Super 50 Cup, which allowed for participating players to engage with WIPA and gain deeper insights into its activities and achievements over the past year.
