
Guyanese left-hander Shimron Hetmyer became the latest West Indian to join the 5000-runs club in T20s during his most recent appearance for the Rajasthan Royals in the ongoing Tata Indian Premier League (IPL).
The 28-year-old brought up the milestone during a knock of 52 off 32 balls in a losing effort for the Royals against the Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.
Hetmyer, who made his debut in the format in 2016, now boast stats of 5045 runs in 261 matches at an average of 26.41 with one hundred and 25 fifties. He also has an impressive strike rate of 136.79.
He is the 11th West Indian to cross the 5000-run milestone, joining Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, Nicholas Pooran, Andre Fletcher, Dwayne Smith, Lendl Simmons, Johnson Charles, Dwayne Bravo and Evin Lewis.
