A second consecutive fifty from Johnson Charles propelled the Sharjah Warriorz to a four-wicket win over the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in International League T20 (ILT20) action at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Thursday. Charles followed up his 70 against the Dubai Capitals on Tuesday with 65 off 35 balls at the top of the order to help the Warriorz successfully chase down a target of 162 in 19 overs.
The St. Lucian hit six fours and four sixes and was supported well by opening partner Tom Kohler-Cadmore who made 39 off 21 balls.
Captain Sunil Narine and Jason Holder were excellent with the ball for the Knight Riders with 2-20 off four overs and 2-22 off four overs, respectively.
Earlier, the Knight Riders, after being put in to bat by the Warriorz, posted 161-8 from their 20 overs.
Kyle Mayers led the way with 56 off 35 balls including six fours and two sixes while Roston Chase and Jason Holder also had meaningful contributions of 33 off 21 balls and 26 off 17 balls, respectively.
Man of the match Adam Zampa took 3-27 from his four overs while Adam Milne also took three wickets, conceding 33 runs in his four over spell.
The win moves the Warriorz up to third in the table, level on points with second-place MI Emirates and fourth-place Dubai Capitals on eight. The Knight Riders now find themselves second from bottom on six points, the same number as the Gulf Giants.
