Jamaican Olympian Jason Morgan nominated for prestigious community award in Louisiana
The award recognises outstanding professionals in North and Central in Louisiana, who have made a positive impact on their communities.
Morgan, 37, is seen as being a standout member of his community where he is the Fatherhood Programme Coordinator for Life of Choice North Central Louisiana. He also serves as the Campus Coordinator for at-risk kids and is a motivational speaker for youth groups on character and leadership.
Known to his friends as “Dadz’, Morgan, is a former student of Calabar High School and a graduate of Louisiana Tech University, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Sociology.
He is the 2011 CAC discus champion and 2014 Commonwealth Games bronze medallist. He also represented Jamaica at the 2012 Olympic Games in London and at the 2011 and 2015 World Championships in Daegu and Beijing, respectively.
In Louisiana, he serves as a junior and high school throws coach and hosts annual track and field camps for area youth.
He told Sportsmax.TV that he is proud to have been nominated for the prestigious award as he lives his life in the service of his community.
“I was honoured to get the call that I would be nominated. This award can change your life, doors can be opened. A lot of great things can come from just being recognized much less winning this award,” he said.
“My diligence goes beyond track and field. I have always wanted to make a positive impact on my community, not just Jamaica, but also where I live in the USA. I always say in my motivational speeches keep believing in your vision. Your vision was given to you by God. You can make a difference for yourself and someone else.
“Trust the process, no matter what.”
The winners will be announced on Facebook Live on Thursday, August 27.
