Triple jump world record holder, Yulimar Rojas, has announced her return to competition after a long recovery from an Achilles tendon injury that prevented her from defending her Olympic title in Paris last year.

The Venezuelan superstar will return to jump in official competition in the long jump on March 9 at the 2025 Salamanca City Indoor Athletics Trophy.

The Venezuelan suffered the injury during a training session in Barcelona on April 10, 2024. She underwent surgery and announced it two days later through her social networks. Rojas returned to training in mid-September last year.

The 29-year-old has won two Olympic medals (silver in Rio 2016 and gold in Tokyo 2020) and seven world titles (three indoors and four outdoors).

Rojas currently owns the world record in the event with her 15.67m effort done to win Olympic Gold in Tokyo. She also holds eight of the top ten jumps in history.

She last competed 540 days ago at the Prefontaine Classic on September 16, 2023 in Eugene where she claimed her third Diamond League trophy.

Rojas' return should add a new level of excitement and anticipation to the event.
