Calabar, Edwin Allen win Class One 4x100m titles at Gibson McCook Relays

Calabar High School and Edwin Allen High School came out on top in the respective Boys and Girls Class One 4x100m finals at the Gibson McCook Relays at the National Stadium in Kingston on Saturday evening.

Calabar came out on top in a quick final that saw three schools dip below 40 seconds. Their winning time was an impressive 39.60 while Jamaica College and Excelsior High School ran 39.88 and 39.99 in second and third, respectively.

Kingston College narrowly won the Class Two final in 41.251, just ahead of rivals Calabar (41.254) while Edwin Allen were third in 41.41.

Jamaica College took top spot in Class Three in 42.44 ahead of St. Jago High School (42.80) and Calabar (43.10).

JC also came out on top in Class Four in 45.14 with Wolmer’s Boys (45.39) and St. Jago (45.71) finishing second and third, respectively.

Similar to the Class Two Boys final, the Girls Class One event came down to one thousandth of a second with Edwin Allen (44.801) crossing the line just ahead of Hydel (44.803) with Holmwood Technical rounding out the top three in 45.04.

Hydel got their revenge in Class Two, winning in 45.70 ahead of Edwin Allen (45.91) and Vere Technical (46.00).

St. Jago High took top spot in Class Three in 46.51 with Edwin Allen (46.57) and Convent of Mercy Alpha (47.56) completing the podium places.

Edwin Allen won the Class Four final in 47.56 ahead of Holmwood Technical (47.82) and Convent of Mercy Alpha (48.06).

The Institution Men’s event saw Dynamic Speed Track Club take top spot in 38.68 ahead of Elite Performance Track Club (39.53) and GC Foster Lions (39.66) while SprinTec took top spot in the Institution Women’s final in a meet record 43.06 ahead of Elite Performance (43.73) and Utech (45.46).
