Barbadian sprinter Mario Burke has taken a significant step in his athletics career by joining Jamaica’s renowned MVP Track and Field Club.
The 27-year-old, a former junior world bronze medalist, will now train under the guidance of celebrated coach Stephen Francis, known for molding Olympic champions such as Elaine Thompson-Herah and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.
Burke, who represented Barbados at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, is eyeing qualification for the 2024 World Athletics Championships in Japan. His move to MVP signals his intent to compete at the highest level by training in an environment that has produced some of the world's best sprinters.
He joins an elite group of Barbadian athletes already training at MVP, including double World bronze medalist and Commonwealth Games record holder Sada Williams, as well as World Under-20 bronze medalist Kishawna Niles.
Burke’s addition to the club highlights MVP’s continued appeal as a hub for top-tier talent across the Caribbean and beyond, as it fosters world-class performance through rigorous training and expert coaching.
