
Jamaicans Tyrice Taylor and Machaeda Linton were among a number of excellent Caribbean performances on day two of the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas on Saturday.
Competing in section five of the event, Taylor, a junior at the University of Arkansas, produced a personal best 1:46.62 to take the win in the men’s 800m.
TCU senior Lloyd Frilot, who won section one, was second overall in a personal best 1:46.82 while Oregon senior Matthew Erickson, the runner-up in section five, was third overall in a season’s best 1:46.89.
In the field, the LSU junior Linton produced a best jump of 13.57m to take the win in the women’s triple jump ahead of Florida’s Asia Phillips (13.32m) and UCF’s Asherah Collins (13.30m).
In the men’s equivalent, Jamaican Oklahoma State junior Rajaun Ricketts jumped 15.05m for third behind Nebraska’s Micaylon Moore (15.95m) and Stephen F Austin’s Bryson Williams (15.63m).
Back to the track, Caymanian LSU junior Jaiden Reid produced a national record 20.72 for second overall in the men’s 200m. TCU senior Kashie Crockett took the win in 20.68 while Arkansas senior Connor Washington was third in 20.79.
