
Jamaica’s Imani Oliver secured a win in the women’s triple jump while the Bahamas’ LaQuan Nairn finished second in the men’s long jump at the Arkansas Qualifier in Fayetteville on Friday.
Oliver ‘s best jump of 13.32m was enough to take the win ahead of Wichita State’s Grace Lange (12.12m) and East Texas A&M’s Dejah Fuller (11.68m).
Nairn produced a best jump of 7.79m for second in the men’s long jump. After opening his series with a foul, he produced 7.69m in the second round.
He fouled again in rounds three and four before replicating his 7.69m in round five. The sixth and final round saw Nairn achieve his longest jump of the day with 7.79m.
Arkansas senior Henry Kiner took the win with 7.83m in round two.
On the track, UTEP’s Marissa Simpson won her section of the women’s 200m in 23.95 but was fourth overall behind the Philippines’ Kristina Knott (23.39), UTEP’s Rejoice Sule (23.41) and Iran’s Maryam Toosi (23.47).
