Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra claims he barely noticed their upcoming reunion with Jimmy Butler on the calendar amid the team's long wait for a win, which ended on Sunday.
The Heat will face the Golden State Warriors at Kaseya Center on Monday, having sent six-time All-Star Butler to San Francisco as part of a five-team trade last month.
Miami have struggled in the aftermath of that move, losing 10 straight games in their worst run of form since 2008 – a season in which they only won 15 times.
But they ended their skid with a 122-105 triumph over the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday, helped by a season-high 42 points from Andrew Wiggins.
After the team's first win since March 3, attention immediately turned to Butler's return to Florida, but Spoelstra insists he has had no time to think about that game.
"The best thing about that is we've been so engulfed in our situation right now is that if I said, 'I haven't really noticed the schedule,' everybody would roll their eyes," Spoelstra said.
"But I literally haven't really been able to check out the schedule. We've been trying to get a damn win.
"I was aware of it, but you stop really looking at it. That's why the highest form of sanity is just to be in the present moment."
Butler was suspended three times before swapping the Heat for the Warriors, as his hugely successful five-season spell in Miami came to an undignified end.
He was banned indefinitely by the franchise after storming out of a practice session in January, having failed to land the lucrative contract extension he desired.
"Obviously, there will be a lot of different feelings about it," Spoelstra said. "I probably won't express all of them, and that's fair.
"We had a great five-year run. We didn't win the title, but only one team does. We had some great moments here.
"We all get past that. That's what you always remember. It doesn't matter what everyone feels right now."
Miami are now 30-41 for the season and sit 10th in the Eastern Conference, occupying the final play-in spot.
Golden State, meanwhile, are battling to avoid the play-in, sitting sixth in the West with a 41-30 record and winning 16 of 19 games with Butler in their lineup.
