Jamaica and Cameroon played to an entertaining 1-1 draw in their maiden encounter at the Omnisport Stadium in Limbe, Cameroon on Wednesday.
Believing the Indomitable Lions to be a tough encounter, Reggae Boyz Head Coach Heimer Hallgrimsson anticipated a difficult day for his side comprised mainly of Jamaica Premier League players and some US leagues. However, the Jamaicans held their own against the home side as the teams went into the break locked at 0-0.
Jamaica would eventually take the lead in the 60th minute when Lamar Walker’s brilliant pass found Justin McMaster at the edge of the box. The Minnesota United player calmly chipped the ball over the advancing Marcelin Mbahbi and into the Cameroon net.
The lead would last approximately 14 minutes when second-half substitute Djawal Kaiba put one past Jahmali Waite in the Jamaica goal.
Both teams had chances at goal in the final 15 minutes but neither was able to make them count.
