Leeds United rescued a point in a 1-1 draw away to Preston North End thanks to a stoppage-time equaliser, which came courtesy of a Jack Whatmough own-goal.

Daniel Farke's side went back to the top of the table following the draw, going ahead of Sheffield United – who have a game in hand – on goal difference. 

Leeds had gone a goal down in the first half after Brad Potts finished a counter-attacking move, and looked like they were on course for a third away defeat in four matches.

Mateo Joseph, though, was able to bundle the ball goalwards from Dan James' cross, with it taking a final touch from Preston's Whatmough, giving them a deserved point after piling on the pressure in the second half.

Following the result, Preston are 16th, three points below the top half.

Elsewhere, Frank Lampard earned his second victory in charge of Coventry City, with the Sky Blues coming from behind to beat bottom club Hull City 2-1. 

Hull had initially gone a goal up through Joao Pedro on the stroke of half-time, but manager Ruben Selles was unable to claim his first victory since taking charge last week.

Ephron Mason-Clark got the Sky Blues back on level terms early in the second half, before setting up Jack Rudoni to win it in the 72nd minute.

Victor Torp also missed a penalty with the scores level in the second half, but that did not prove decisive. Coventry climbed to 15th following the win.

Queens Park Rangers, meanwhile, extended their unbeaten run to six matches following a 1-1 draw away to Bristol City, which saw them climb to 17th in the table.

Marti Cifuentes' side had to come from behind to claim the point, having conceded from a direct free-kick on the hour.

The set-piece in question was dispatched by Scott Twine, whose first touch of the ball after coming off the bench was to curl it over the wall and into the back of the net.

Paul Smyth equalised for the visitors five minutes later from inside his own half, after Bristol City goalkeeper Max O'Leary had raced out of his goal to challenge the midfielder and failed to win the ball.

The Robins are 10th in the table following the draw, five points off the play-off positions, while QPR moved up to 17th ahead of the rest of Saturday's action.
