The year 1969 marked the dawn of hope for youth in the community. The school’s motto, ‘Learning for Living’ served as a lamp that would steer boys and girls with curious minds along the right path. Denbigh kept hounding the Porus defense and finally got the breakthrough in the 15th minute when Luthan heardsman picked up a ball close to the keeper to fire home a beauty to give Denbigh its first goal. Sashaee Barnes scored later in the 27th minute when he lobbied home a pass to give Denbigh a 2-0 lead going into the second half. Denbigh picked up where they left off and scored two early goals in the 50th and 69th minute through Ranaldo Wright and Mario Smith to give Denbigh a 4-0 lead. Porus was able to pull two back when substitute Marlon Blake netted twice to give them two consolation goal. Denbigh Play Glenmuir High School in their next encounter.
