Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) strengthened their grip on the match against the Guyana Harpy Eagles on the second day of their four-day West Indies Championship encounter at the Guyana National Stadium in Providence.
Resuming from their overnight total of 279-6, CCC continued to build their innings with Kyle Corbin leading the charge. Corbin, who was unbeaten on 62 at the start of the day, went on to score a commanding 102 before retiring hurt. His innings, spanning 204 deliveries, included 11 boundaries and a six, setting the foundation for CCC’s dominance.
Demario Richards contributed a vital 40, while Akeem Jordan and Avinash Mahabirsingh added useful runs of 16 and 33 respectively, helping CCC push their total to 375 all out in 114.5 overs. The Guyana bowling attack saw contributions from Shamar Joseph (3-115), Ronaldo Alimohamed (3-56), and Veerasammy Permaul (3-87), who all toiled hard to restrict CCC’s batting.
Chasing CCC’s first-innings total, the Guyana Harpy Eagles found themselves in early trouble as they struggled against a disciplined bowling attack. Tagenarine Chanderpaul (4) was trapped lbw by Ojay Shields, while Matthew Nandu (11) and Kevlon Anderson (19) fell cheaply to Akeem Jordan.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Tevin Imlach showed some resistance, remaining unbeaten on 58, while contributions from Kevin Sinclair (19) and Richie Looknauth (21 not out) helped Guyana reach 166-6 at stumps. The CCC bowlers continued to dominate, with Shields claiming 3-42 and Jordan picking up 2-33 in a brilliant display of seam bowling.
With Guyana still trailing by 209 runs and only four wickets in hand, CCC will look to press home their advantage on day three and potentially enforce a commanding position in the match.
