Hydel High produced another dazzling display of speed and dominance as they stormed to their fourth-consecutive High School Girls Championship of America 4x400m title and rewrote the record books in the process on Saturday's final day of the 129th Penn Relays at Franklin Field in Philadelphia.

The Ferry-based powerhouse was simply unstoppable, as their quartet of Natassia Fletcher, Abigail Campbell, Sashana Johnson, and Jody-Ann Daley blazed around the wet Franklin Field track in a breathtaking 3:30.42 — smashing the previous meet record of 3:32.77 set by another Hydel team in 2022. The performance also obliterated the Franklin Field facility record of 3:31.68, set by Mount Verde Academy just last year.

From the gun, Hydel stamped their authority on the race. They were the first to the break pole, with Bullis School (Maryland), Edwin Allen, and Holmwood Technical trailing about 10 metres behind. As the rain poured down, the Jamaican champions only widened the gap. Hydel increased their lead to 20 metres heading into the second exchange and maintained a relentless pace that the chasing pack simply could not match.

Bullis School, determined to spoil a Jamaican sweep of the podium once again, charged hard on the final leg to separate themselves from Edwin Allen and Holmwood Technical. Bullis placed second in 3:33.30, while Edwin Allen finished a solid third in 3:36.14. Holmwood Technical claimed fourth in 3:38.80, with Immaculate Conception in sixth at 3:43.17.

Hydel’s dominance was underscored by their swift splits of 53.06s, 52.46s, 52.47s, and 52.28s, as each runner delivered under pressure to secure a special moment for their school. The victory marked Hydel’s sixth overall in this event at the Penn Relays.
