West Indies will have a new Test captain when they face Australia later this year after Kraigg Brathwaite gave up the role.

Kraigg Brathwaite has stepped down as captain of West Indies' Test side.

The 32-year-old has skippered the red-ball side for the past three years, having assumed the role in March 2021.

Among the highlights of Brathwaite's captaincy was the 2022 home series victory against England, and ending a 27-year wait for a Test win in Australia last year.

The Windies have yet to announce who will replace Brathwaite as captain of the Test side, with Australia set to tour the Caribbean in June and July.

It is a time of change for the Windies, with Shai Hope replacing Rovman Powell as T20I captain to go alongside his duties as ODI skipper.

Hope's first T20I assignment will be the six fixtures away against England and Ireland in June.
