The Leeward Islands and West Indies leg-spinner, who is asymptomatic, first returned a negative test result on arrival into Bangladesh on the weekend, and then had a positive return on his test in Dhaka yesterday. This result was verified by a second positive test today.
The West Indies touring squad has been in individual isolation since arriving in Bangladesh and so there has been no contact between squad members since arrival. In accordance with the established medical protocols, Walsh remained isolated from the West Indies squad and is now under the care and supervision of the Team Physician, Dr Praimanand Singh.
Walsh will remain in isolation until he returns two negative PCR test results and therefore is unavailable to play in the upcoming three-match ODI series against Bangladesh.
All other members of the West Indies touring squad returned second negative COVID-19 tests, after undergoing four tests within the last 11 days.
The three-match ODI Series starts on Wednesday, January 20.

Powell, the West Indies T20 captain, led the Tallawahs to their third CPL title in 2023 and has scored 1337 runs for the franchise since first joining them in 2016.
“It is with a heavy heart that my time with the Tallawahs has come to an end,” Powell said in a post in Instagram Wednesday morning.
‘I have made lifelong friends and memories I will never forget; not least winning two CPL titles for my home franchise, one of those as captain, which I will always cherish.
“I am looking forward to joining the Royals and beginning a new chapter in my CPL career.”
Powell expressed his gratitude to his now former teammates and coaches on three-time CPL champions.
“I would like to thank all the players and coaches who have been part of my Tallawahs journey these past few years,” he said.
“Most of all, I want to thank the Jamaican fans for your support. Always remember, we likkle but we Tallawah!”
Walsh leaves the Royals having played for the franchise since 2019, claiming the Player of the Tournament title in his first year with the Barbados team. As an experienced leg spin bowler with international pedigree he will be a valuable addition to the Tallawahs squad.
The Republic Bank CPL draft show will be broadcast in late June 2023 with the tournament set to get underway on 16 August 2023.
Man-of-the-Match Carty, who was a member of the West Indies team which won the ICC Under-19 World Cup in 2016, recording his maiden List A century, an unbeaten 123 that included nine fours and three sixes on a good pitch at the Coolidge Cricket Ground.
However, it was Walsh that turned the match when in the final stages, with an asking rate of close to 14 runs per over, the left-handed Walsh smashed three massive sixes of a Chemar Holder over to score 28 off just nine balls which kept the chase alive.
Twenty-six runs came from the over that helped put Leewards on the path to victory while chasing 302.
In the high-scoring contest, Barbados Pride made 301-8, Leewards Islands Hurricanes replied with 305-6 as they reached the target with three balls to spare and picked up their first points of the tournament.
“I just kept going because I kept the team goals in mind. I knew I had to stay there for the team and bat to the end,” Carty said afterwards.
“It was a really good knock, but the others around me also played well and overall it was a great win for the team. I will look to do a similar kind of job in the next match and the others to come. We are confident and this win will give is a big boost.”
Earlier, Shamarh Brooks top-scored with 96 off 88 balls while left-hander Jonathan Carter made 58 off 91 balls. The pair added a record 160 for the third wicket for the Pride.
Fast bowler Quinton Boatswain, who claimed two wickets off successive deliveries in the 48th over, finished with 4-52 — his second four-for in as many matches — while leg-spinner Walsh claimed 3-75.
Jamaica Scorpions will take on the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium on Thursday starting at 9 am (8 am Jamaica).
The experienced left-hander hit 14 fours and a six in an even 100 – before he retired. He faced just 88 balls and played a number of powerful shots on both side of the wicket but was particularly eye-catching driving through the covers. His effort helped the West Indies post 282 all out off 48.4 overs.
The score, however, wasn’t enough as the Sri Lanka XI made 283-8 off 47.3 overs.
Bravo shared in two crucial partnerships as the West Indies batsmen looked to get valuable time in the middle ahead of the ODI series, which starts on Saturday. He added 113 with Sunil Ambris, who made 41 off 63 balls with six boundaries.
After Ambris fell, Nicholas Pooran joined Bravo and the pair of left-handers dominated the bowling with a stand of 79 in just 12 overs. Pooran, who made his maiden international century against Sri Lanka at last year’s World Cup, scored 41 off 38 balls, with two fours and two huge sixes. In the backend Fabian Allen (28) and Jason Holder (22) played cameos to boost the total.
“My goal was to spend at much time as possible at the crease. I had a particular game plan and it worked out so I’m confident going into the One-Day Series, later this week,” said Bravo.
In the second half of the match, left-arm pacer Sheldon Cottrell (2-22) was sensational with the new ball to have the home side two wickets down in the first over.
Left-arm spinner Fabian Allen (2-62) and leg-spinner Hayden Walsh (2-52) both bowled well but they were trumped by a brilliant knock of 120 from former Sri Lanka captain Upul Tharanga, who hit 16 fours and a six off 124 balls.
The West Indies will remain in Colombo this week, where they will have another warm-up match against the SLC XI on Thursday.
The first ODI is at the Sinhalese Sports Club on Saturday.
