The 36-year-old, who retired from football in January, opened up about the experience of ending his career at Boca, whom he joined on a free transfer in July 2019 when his contract at Roma expired.
He made just five appearances for Boca in the Superliga before cancelling his contract and returning to Italy to be with his family early in the new year, but said he had no regrets about the move.
"I would need a whole quarantine to describe the emotions I experienced in those six months," the 2006 World Cup winner told Sky Sport.
"It is a unique place, very similar to Italy - more than we think, also because half of them are of Italian origin. They live on passion for anything, from food to music, to a passion for football.
"It's a championship that can be technically and tactically discussed, but in six months I haven't seen a player pulling back his leg or not giving 200 per cent."
De Rossi scored on his Boca debut, in a 1-1 draw and penalty shoot-out defeat to Almagro in the Copa Argentina.
In March it was announced he would receive a league winner's medal after Boca clinched the Superliga title, giving him an honour he failed to achieve in 18 years as a Roma player.
But it was the atmosphere at La Bombonera that De Rossi said he would treasure above all else.
"It is not about being a ruffian, which I don't like," he said. "But the most beautiful thing is what you see in the stands.
"It is a warmth that we no longer have in Italy: it is pure and selfless passion.
"La Bombonera is the most absurd and sensational stadium in the world. I wish all fans to be able to visit it during a Boca match.
"I feel privileged to have played there, even if it didn't last long."
In his place came another member of Italy's 2006 World Cup winning squad, with Massimo Oddo appointed until the end of the season on Tuesday, with a year's extension on offer if he keeps SPAL in Serie B.
SPAL announced De Rossi's dismissal on their website, saying five members of his staff had also lost their jobs.
Oddo has been handed the reins, with fellow former Italy star Stefano Fiore also joining as a technical collaborator.
Appointed in October, Roma legend De Rossi only lasted four months in his first role as a head coach.
The 39-year-old had been an assistant to Roberto Mancini as Italy won the Euro 2020 finals and hoped to achieve success by branching out on his own, but wins were hard to come by.
A 117-cap midfielder for Italy in his playing days, De Rossi leaves a SPAL side who have lost their last three games – to Cagliari, Bari and Venezia – and sit third-bottom in the 20-team Italian second division.
SPAL will be banking on the more experienced Oddo to rescue them. The 46-year-old former Napoli, Lazio and Milan player has previously coached Pescara, Udinese, Crotone, Perugia and Padova.
The 37-year-old, who earned 117 caps for the Azzurri and won the 2006 World Cup, has come on board as a technical coach.
De Rossi retired from playing in January last year after a brief stint with Boca Juniors in Argentina, having made 616 appearances in a distinguished career with Roma.
"I'm proud to start this new career with the national team and I thank both president [Gabriele] Gravina and coach Mancini for the trust and the opportunity," De Rossi told the FIGC's official website.
"It will be exciting to return to Coverciano, which for me means coming back home and find many former colleagues and friends in the staff and the group. I can't wait to get started."
Mancini, who has been at the helm since 2018, was happy to welcome De Rossi into the fold.
"I'm very pleased that Daniele joins our group," Mancini said. "I'm sure he will be able to give the lads an important contribution and I hope that his first experience will be useful for the future."
The 39-year-old De Rossi has signed up to join the team from Ferrara, in Emilia-Romagna, on a contract running until the end of June 2024.
De Rossi had recently been serving as a technical assistant to Italy boss Roberto Mancini but has vacated that post to strike out on his own in Italy's second tier.
SPAL sit 14th in Serie A and have lost their last two league matches, leading to the sacking of Venturato on Sunday.
De Rossi made 616 appearances across all competitions for Roma in an 18-year first-team career, captaining the team in 207 games. Only Francesco Totti has played more games for the capital giants than De Rossi.
He also won 117 caps for Italy, helping the team lift the World Cup in 2006 and playing on until 2017 in the national side.
He left Roma in 2019 and had a brief playing stint at Boca Juniors, before switching to coaching and uniting with Mancini in the Azzurri set-up.
De Rossi was part of Mancini's staff as Italy won the delayed Euro 2020 tournament last year, beating England on penalties in the Wembley final.
His move to SPAL was given the blessing of Italy's football association, the FIGC, with president Gabriele Gravina saying: "To Daniele, I wish you the best of luck for this new professional adventure.
"In the belief that the experience gained in Club Italia will be very useful to him, I thank him for the commitment and passion with which he has always honoured the blue shirt, giving himself and giving us so much satisfaction."
