Joella Lloyd will carry the flag for Antigua and Barbuda at the 2025 World Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China, as the nation's sole representative. The national indoor record holder is set to compete in the Women's 60m dash, where she is ranked 13th among the 54 competitors entered for the event.

Lloyd, who clocked a season-best 7.13 seconds in Gainesville, Florida, on February 7, will be looking to make a strong impression on the global stage. The Women’s 60m event will commence on Saturday, March 22, at 11:15 AM Nanjing time. She will be accompanied by her personal coach, Matthew Kane, as she aims for her first international medal.

A standout sprinter, Lloyd has long been a key figure in Antigua and Barbuda’s athletics scene. Born on April 12, 2002, in St. John’s, she attended Antigua Girls’ High School before continuing her studies and athletics career at the University of Tennessee. Her achievements include national records in both the 100m and 200m and a remarkable performance at the 2021 SEC Championships, where she won the indoor 60m title with a personal best of 7.15 seconds—then the fastest time in the world by any female athlete under 20 years old.

With the support of the Antigua and Barbuda Athletics Association (ABAA), which has extended its best wishes for her campaign, Lloyd is set to take on some of the world’s best sprinters as she looks to add another milestone to her already impressive career.
