West Indies pacer Matthew Forde has been named in the Rangpur Riders squad for the upcoming 2024 ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League (GSL), a T20 showdown set to take place from November 26 to December 7 at the Guyana National Stadium in Providence. This exciting tournament marks the debut of the GSL, featuring five international teams competing for a USD$1 million prize fund over 11 matches.

The Rangpur Riders have assembled a dynamic squad blending experienced Bangladeshi talent with key overseas players. The team includes Bangladesh internationals Nurul Hasan, Soumya Sarkar, Afif Hossain, and Mahedi Hasan, all known for their T20 prowess. Additionally, Matthew Forde brings West Indies flavor to the squad, while England’s seasoned campaigners Wayne Madsen and Zak Chappell add valuable experience alongside USA’s Harmeet Singh.

Complementing this core group, the Riders' squad also includes Bangladeshi players Mohammad Saifuddin, Saif Hassan, Rishad Hossain, Arafat Sunny, and Kamrul Islam, ensuring a strong blend of youth and experience.

The 2024 Global Super League, featuring teams from Guyana Amazon Warriors, Hampshire Hawks, Lahore Qalandars, Rangpur Riders, and Victoria, will showcase global T20 talent in its inaugural edition, with each team vying for the championship title. West Indies opener Brandon King played a starring role to help the Rangpur Riders secure a narrow one-wicket victory over Fortune Barishal in Bangladesh Premier League action at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Monday.

Fortune Barishal first made 151-9 from their 20 overs after winning the toss and batting first.

Kyle Mayers led the way with 46 batting at number three. The Bajan left-hander’s knock lasted 27 deliveries and included four fours and three sixes.

He was well supported by Captain Tamim Iqbal and Tom Banton who made 33 and 26, respectively.

Abu Hider was excellent with the ball for the Riders with figures of 5-12 from his four overs while Hasan Mahmud took 2-31 from his four overs.

The successful chase was then led by King who had his best score of the season so far with 45 off 22 balls including three fours and four sixes.

Coming into this game, King had scores of 0, 0, 1, 20, 14, 1 and 2 this BPL season.

Superstar all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan also contributed well for the winners with 29 while Jimmy Neesham made 28 against 3-24 off four overs from Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

Mayers also completed a good all-round performance of his own with 2-31 from his four overs while Obed McCoy grabbed 3-34 from his four overs.

West Indies all-rounder Romario Shepherd starred with bat and ball but it wasn’t enough to prevent the Chattogram Challengers form going down by 18 runs to the Rangpur Riders in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) on Friday.

After winning the toss and batting first at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Shakib Al Hasan led the way with 62 as the Riders posted 187-8 from their 20 overs.

Mahedi Hasan also chipped in with 34 and Rony Talukdar hit 25. Shepherd was the pick of the Chattogram bowlers with 3-27 from his four overs while Salauddin Sakil and Shohidul Islam both took a pair of wickets, each.

Shepherd then hit four five fours and six sixes on his way to a top score of 66 not out off 30 balls but it wasn’t enough as the Challengers finished their innings 169-6.

Tom Bruce and Captain Shuvagata Hom supported Shepherd with 24 and 21, respectively, against an excellent 3-14 off four overs from South African all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius.

Mahedi Hasan completed a fine all-round performance with 2-17 from his four overs.
