The Exiles got off to the perfect start as Aaron Wildig nipped in to pounce on a loose ball in the box to put the visitors ahead in the third minute.

Former Morecambe man Wildig came close to a second, but he could only find the side netting later in the half.

Top scorer Paul McCallum, a former West Ham youngster, levelled shorty after the restart with a thunderous half-volley.

Veteran defender James Clarke, who scored in the first tie, restored County’s lead on the hour-mark.

Vanarama National League outfit Eastleigh recovered from a goal down with 10 men to earn a replay after a 1-1 draw at Newport.

The home side wasted a host of chances in the first half before Eastleigh defender George Langston was shown a straight red card for an elbow on Harry Charsley in the 38th minute.

The 10 men were almost ahead three minutes into the second half when a long ball over the top of the home defence sent Chris Maguire through on goal and despite his shot beating Nick Townsend, his effort rebounded off a post.

County finally broke the deadlock in the 56th minute when defender James Clarke was first to Shane McLoughlin’s corner and swept the ball past Joe McDonnell from inside the area.

But they could not find the crucial second goal to kill off the non-league side, and they were made to pay for their profligacy.

Clarke was adjudged to have brought down Paul McCallum in the box after 82 minutes and Maguire blasted the penalty high into the top corner.

Eastleigh cruised into FA Cup second round with 5-1 thrashing of National League rivals Boreham Wood.

The hosts were in front after 17 minutes, with Nigel Atangana turning the ball in after Chris Maguire’s free-kick had been headed away.

However, it took just two minutes for Boreham Wood to level through Matt Robinson.

Maguire had the hosts back in front within four minutes, firing into an empty net from Jake Taylor’s low cross.

Maguire then turned provider when his free-kick was swept in by Ludwig Francillette seven minutes before the interval.

And Francilette scored again shortly after the interval to make it 4-1 to the home side.

The dismissal of Jayden Harris in the 71st minute for a second bookable offence failed to knock Eastleigh off their stride and Maguire wrapped up a fine win in stoppage time, smashing in from six yards out.
